Poseyville
Poseyville is a small town of just over 1000 people off the I-64 freeway in northern Posey County. Its restaurants, grocery and retail stores are popular with local residents for miles around, and visitors might enjoy a visit to the Red Wagon Restaurant for its unique dining experience and downtown for its shops and drinking and dining establishments.
The town was established in 1840 as Palestine, taking the name Poseyville in 1852. Most of its public building date from the late 19th century, including two scenic churches. In 1905, Poseyville became one of the smallest towns to get a Carnegie library. The Masonic Hall, next to the library, and the old Farmer’s Bank and Trust building are examples of Neo-Classic and Sullivanesque architecture, respectively.
