Saint Philip’s Inn may be the oldest bar/restaurant in Posey County, though not the only one to stake that claim. The original part of the building was constructed in 1890 and rumor has it that it used to be a Pony Express stop.
For the past 16 years, however, it’s been owned by Matt Riney.
“We haven’t changed a lot,” he says. “Our philosophy is ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,’ and it ain’t broke. We’ve got a lot of great regulars and a steady stream of visitors. We’ve won a Reader’s Choice award for best Fiddlers in the ti-state four years running.”
Menu choices range from simple ham and cheese sandwiches and burgers to pizza, Stromboli’s, fiddlers and fried chicken. Plate lunches and nightly specials are available every day throughout the week.
“We have a full service bar with nightly drink specials during the week,” says Matt, “and we do a lot of catering for weddings and other special events.”
