Brent Glass, director emeritus of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, the world’s largest museum devoted to telling the story of America, will give a lecture about his new book “50 Great American Places” at the Atheneum in New Harmony, Indiana, (401 N. Heritage Artisans Days
Historic New Harmony invites schoolchildren to New Harmony, Indiana on April 19-21, 2017 to experience what life was like in the 1800's through the eyes of a variety of period artisans. Learn about Hoosier State Earthquakes: Quake Cottage
Learn about the Hoosier State’s shaky past by visiting the Quake Cottage, an earthquake simulator that provides citizens with a safe yet realistic experience of the intense shaking that can occur during an earthquake. Participants 6 years of age and older can experience the shaking of a 3.0 to 7.0 magnitude earthquake. The Quake Cottage program provides education about the science of earthquakes and disaster preparedness.

From New Harmony to the Holy Land: The Story of Rosamond Dale Owen Oliphant Templeton, “Formerly Owner of Armageddon”
This two-day symposium highlights the early life of New Harmony native Rosamond Dale Owen, her fascinating archaeological legacy in Israel, and the prehistory of New Harmony as revealed in recent excavations. Speakers include Patricia Sides (Willard Library), Michael Strezewski (USI), Jennie Ebeling (UE), Eric Cline (George Washington University), Norma Franklin (University of Haifa, Israel) and Ian Cipin (University College London).
