The New Harmony Gallery of Contemporary Art is a fixture on Main Street that provides exhibition space for current Midwestern artists, a place where the general public can view contemporary art, and a gift shop where the paintings, drawings, sculpture, pottery jewelry and photography of many local artists are sold. Located in a historic storefront on Church Street, The Mews is made up of a series of rooms that wind around through the old Shadblow restaurant, each containing an eclectic mix of unique items, including clothes, home decor, antiques, historic books, and specialty foods and utensils. Lowry Hollow features tasteful furniture and decor, both old and new. It’s located in New Harmony’s Old Train Depot, an historic building that was moved from its original site across town to its present scenic location near the Inn. Situated on a hill in the middle of the historic Hasting farm, which has been in operation for over 150 years out near Hovey Lake in Point Township, Hasting Plants is made up of four greenhouses and a spacious, well-stocked garden shop. Hasting Plants is open from mid- March through mid-June, and for a Christmas open house in early December. Continue reading
