The Leather Leaf Inn is a comfortable Bed and Breakfast featuring eclectic decor in an original Harmonist building that was constructed in 1817 and converted into a home in 1865.

“I love to cook,” says owner Suzie Schutte. “That’s what I love to do most. I like to do something a little creative, maybe a little Mexican one morning or a traditional breakfast casserole with grits. Or some days I just love English tea and scones.”

Living Room at Leather Leaf Inn Bed & BreakfastThe Leather Leaf features two upstairs bedrooms with cable tv and wifi access. Suzie describes the decor as eclectic because it’s a mix of the old and the new.

Much of the old came from family. The  vintage Tappan Skelgas stove in the kitchen was her husband Kent’s grandmother’s. The kitchen table and front room sofa were Suzie’s grandmother’s. Much of the new came from local artists and artisans. Many of the paintings throughout the Inn are either by a local artist or someone who came for New Harmony’s annual First Brush of Spring Plein Air Paint-out. The The front room has a working wood fireplace. Everything, old or new, was inspired by New Harmony’s history.
