Madeleine Peyroux

American jazz singer, songwriter, and guitarist, Madeleine Peyroux (French pronunciation: ​[madˈlɛn pɛˈʁu]), is noted for her vocal style, which has been compared to that of Billie Holiday. The American born Peyroux was a musician on the streets of Paris as a teenager, living abroad with her mother. Madeleine quickly became entranced with the local buskers, spending much of her time accompanying a regular band on the sidewalks of the Latin Quarter with her distinctive voice, and later joining a touring jazz and blues band. Back in the states, Peyroux was discovered in her early twenties in a New York Club and the rest is history  – with seven albums to her credit and nearly two decades of worldwide touring.
